What I checked before writing this
I opened the Steam appdetails API for app 4045720 on 2026-10-17. The name is Squadron 42. release_date.date is "Q2 2027" and coming_soon is true. price_overview is null. platforms.windows is true, and Mac and Linux are false. Developers are Cloud Imperium Games Ltd and Cloud Imperium Games Texas LLC. Publishers are Roberts Space Industries International Ltd and Roberts Space Industries LLC.
I also read the 27 August 2026 Letter From The Chairman and the 12 October 2026 This Week in Star Citizen post. The letter moves the window to Q2 2027. The weekly says about 140 people played in Manchester. I am not treating a store page as a release.
Fresh on 2026-10-17
Steam fields checked 2026-10-17. Chairman letter dated 2026-08-27. Manchester recap dated 2026-10-12. Those are three different dates and I am not merging them into one "updated today" claim.
